In need of a friendly nudge to get into the holiday spirit?
Wandering beneath tree canopies drenched in seasonal colour and dripping with shards of light should definitely help to put you in the “Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year” kind of mood.
Here are three dazzling holiday light displays across North America that will make your nights merry and bright.
Ready, set, sparkle!
Lightscape – Chicago, Illinois
A stroll through Lightscape at the Chicago Botanic Garden is a wonderful way to begin the festive season.
Lightscape is a new after-dark lighting exhibition from London. This infusion of light art includes several large art installations from international artists.
A million points of light have been set up to create this immersive installation with music specially curated for this event.
Another popular immersive experience is moving through colourful ribbons of light or what some might call, selfie heaven.
Illumination: Tree Lights – Lisle, Illinois
Just North of Chicago, a festive adventure in the world of trees awaits.
Illumination: Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum is an ideal way to experience the winter woods brought to life with innovative lights, projections, and music.
Visitors are surrounded with deeply saturated colours as they walk a one-mile paved path amid interactive lighting effects that highlight the beauty of trees in winter. More than a thousand tree-tops glisten and shimmer drenched in seasonal colour, while a cascade of strings of multi-colored lights hang like tinsel along the Illumination route.
In this spectacle of colour, light, and sound, visitors will discover surprising new sights, including Tree Fascination–a digital projection of immersive colour and pattern on a grove of Eastern white and Scots pine trees.
Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspended Bridge – Vancouver, Canada
I am taking you off the beaten path into the Rainforest of Canada’s Pacific coast. If you enjoy reveling in nature, exploring the illuminated beauty of Capilano Suspended Bridge Park, one of British Columbia’s unconventional gems during the holiday season will definitely appeal to you.
Capilano Suspended Bridge was built in 1889 and stands 230 feet (70 cm) high above Capilano River. To light this unique bridge that spans 450 feet (137 m) long, requires 10,000 white LED lights.
The splendor of Canyon Lights doesn’t stop there as over half a million LED lights scintillate throughout the scenic park.
