Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Philips Lighting, a Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) company and global leader in lighting, will showcase truly pioneering LED innovations at Light + Building 2016, the world’s leading trade fair for lighting in Frankfurt, Germany. From delivering an all LED true halogen replacement, to a bulb that can change brightness and ambience simply through an existing light switch, to a classic filament bulb that looks just as striking when turned off – all Philips LED innovations combine high quality light with a 15 year lifespan¹ and at least 85% energy savings.²
Reinventing the halogen spotlight
The Philips classic LED spot range is the first glass LED spot range on the market that truly replaces the popular halogen spotlight, as it has a similar light effect, look and feel. In addition to being 90% more energy efficient than halogen equivalents, the new glass range will come in various wattages and color temperatures. The new glass spotlight will also feature DimTone, making it is the first spotlight of its kind on the market. This means that the light progresses from a warm yellow white light to a much warmer reddish white light similar to a sun setting. With Philips classic LED spot with DimTone, a subtle change in tone can completely transform an atmosphere or enhance a mood.
“From research we know that consumers prefer glass spotlights similar to the much-loved existing halogens, rather than plastic spotlights,” says Mahesh Iyer, Leader of Philips Lighting LED business. “With the addition of DimTone, the new Philips classic LED spot also behaves like a true halogen spotlight as it radiates a warm light effect as it is dimmed, whilst benefitting from being 90% more energy efficient by being entirely LED. Given that a great deal of halogen spotlights will be banned in Europe later this year, the timing of this replacement range couldn’t be better.”
One bulb. Three light settings… works with your existing switch
Philips SceneSwitch LED bulb range is a unique new range that combines three light settings in one light, meaning you can easily have the right light for your needs without dimming. Change the ambience from a bright light, to a natural light, to a cosy warm glow simply by turning your existing wall switch on and off. No dimmer switch or additional installation is required, all that is needed to change between the three pre-set light effects is your existing wall switch – it’s as simple as that to have beautiful ambient light in any room.
Lights that are made to be seen
Philips classic LED bulb range now includes a retro classic design that has all the benefits of LED technology. Strikingly beautiful when switched off due to the exposed filament design similar to an incandescent, Philips classic LED bulbs now also feature DimTone, marrying ambience creation to stylish deco. Simply put - the more you dim, the warmer the light effect is, to add warmth and beauty to any room.
Like all Philips LED light bulbs, the Philips classic LED and Philips SceneSwitch LED bulb ranges come in a range of wattage equivalents and shapes, from candle and luster to spotlight and of course the traditional A19 shape. These ranges will be available across Europe, North America and Asia from summer 2016.
¹ 15 years is the average lifetime based on average use of 2-3 hours /day
² 85% energy saving vs incandescent 60W lamp (9W/60W = 0.15*100= 15%)
