    Circular economy

    Earth is circular.

    Lighting should be circular, too.

In 2022, we used 1.7 times the resources our planet can sustain. To transition to a sustainable and circular economy, we need to rethink the way we produce and consume. There’s no plan B for our home planet.

At Signify, we’re on a mission to make people’s lives brighter and to create a better world with environmentally friendly light. For this reason, we’re driving the development of eco-friendly products that can be reprinted, refurbished, reused, and recycled.

    Our circularity commitments

    Sending zero

    manufacturing waste to landfill

    2x

our Circular revenues to 32% by the end of 2025

    2.5 million kg

phasing out plastics from consumer packaging

    5% reduction

    in yearly water usage
    and hazardous waste

We need to transform our system

The current linear method of production is exhausting the planet’s resources and producing ever more waste. Lighting for circularity is ringing in a new era and enabling the shift from a linear to a circular economy.

Assessing & substantiating environmental impacts with EPDs

    Whitepaper

The world needs to change its economy from a linear to a circular model, minimizing the environmental impacts of the products produced, regulated, and consumed.

However, meaningful quantification of product environmental footprints, over various impact categories, including GHG, water & land use, and resource depletion, is a formidable challenge. EPDs provide transparent and comparable data, enabling informed decision-making for sustainable procurement and design for manufacturers to differentiate and improve their products, while architects and designers can make more sustainable choices based on this data.

Our whitepaper on how embracing EPD methods tailored for lighting will better stand the test of time & raise sustainability ambitions within the lighting industry.

    Many applications, many benefits

Lighting for circularity brings many benefits to the table that make a wide range of application areas more sustainable and environmentally friendly across the board.
