New motion sensor connects to your lights to provide a safe passage through your home
Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Philips Lighting (Euronext Amsterdam ticker: LIGHT), a global leader in lighting, today announced the launch of the latest innovation in its Philips Hue family, a motion sensor which enables you to control your lights through movement in your home. The Philips Hue motion sensor is a simple but versatile way to interact with light without even needing to touch a switch and without need for complex installation. The result is intuitive lighting that follows you.
Setting up your Philips Hue motion sensor is a snap – it’s completely wireless, battery powered, magnetic and adjustable. It links directly with the Philips Hue app. Seamlessly integrating into the Philips Hue lighting system, and compatible with all Philips Hue products, you can connect up to 12 sensors to your Philips Hue bridge for full coverage around your home. Simply put it on a side table or book shelf, stick it on with the magnet on a metal surface or mount it to a wall or ceiling, and adjust the detection direction.
“By knowing you can be guided through your home at night, and no longer having to remind the kids to turn off the lights when leaving a room, the Philips Hue motion sensor not only provides hands free control but also helps deliver peace of mind. The reliable detection when you leave the room also helps you be more energy efficient,” said Sridhar Kumaraswamy, Business Leader Home Systems at Philips Lighting.
The Philips Hue motion sensor takes lighting control out of your hands and into your footsteps. Let the lights guide you with a highly responsive, instantaneous reaction within 0.5 seconds, so you won’t be fumbling for the switch in the dark. Getting blinded by a bright light, and waking up your family in the middle of the night is a thing of the past, as you can personalize your settings, for a gentle light at night-time and your favourite scene during the day.
Smart sensor for perfect lighting for any time of the day
Thanks to a built-in daylight sensor, the Philips Hue motion sensor knows if there is already enough light in the room and will only activate the lights if needed, helping you save energy. Bright in the evening when you’re walking into a room with your hands full, and dimmed at night when you’re getting out of bed to make your way to the bathroom.
The new Philips Hue motion sensor is expected to be available in selected markets by end of October, 2016, priced from RRP €39.99/ $39.95.
