Somerset, NJ – Philips has been recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES)’s 2011 Progress Committee for its products and applications. The committee chose 26 products and one application from nine of the company’s lighting brands to be featured its 2011 IES Progress Report. With a total of 27 approved submissions, including 18 LED, Philips is the best represented entrant in this year’s report, which honored 156 new products, applications and publications that contributed to the develoment and improvement of the lighting industry in 2011.
Acceptance in the Progress Report is based on an impartial judging process used by the committee to evaluate each submission on its uniqueness, innovation and significance to the lighting industry. Products from Philips Lighting, Philips Lightolier, Philips Canlyte, Philips Color Kinetics, Philips Widelite, Philips Gardco, Philips Day-Brite, Capri, Omega and Philips Bodine Emergency Lighting were included in the 2011 report. The first application of Philips Day-Brite’s AlumaBay fluorescent high-bay fixture—a 2010 Progress Report product—at the Scruggs Farm, Lawn and Garden store was also selected.
“With this year’s IES Progress Report, it is clear to see that Philips is committed to leading the LED revolution, while still innovating on traditional light sources such as fluorescent and HID,” said Zia Eftekhar, chief executive officer of Philips Ligthing North America. “We are committed to giving our customers energy-efficient solutions that fit their application needs without compromising on light or product quality.”
The accepted submissions were announced at the IES’s Annual Conference in October 2011 and were published in last month’s issue of LD+A magazine.
