To ensure that Signify does not indirectly contribute to human rights abuses in cobalt, lithium, mica and graphite mining, we carry out investigations to determine which of our suppliers use these minerals and evaluate their supply chain. Based on this due diligence, we define next steps needed to address social issues and drive improvements.
Cobalt
We started with cobalt, as it is present in our battery supply chain for emergency lighting and remote controls. Although it covers a small part of our spend, we have prioritized this topic and engaged on responsible sourcing standards. Since 2018, we have been part of the Partnership agreement for Fair Cobalt together with Fairphone, Huayou and Impact Facility (Fair Cobalt Alliance). This partnership aims to improve health and safety, fairer income and community impacts in artisanal small-scale mines (ASM) and contribute to the development of a transparent battery supply chain.
