Michael Rojas joined Signify in January 2021 as a Commercial Operations Intern. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and is pursuing an MBA in Sustainability at Bard College with a concentration in Circular Value Chain Management. With a previous working background, Michael nowadays works as a Dispute Resolver, and he feels represented by Signify’s sustainability commitment.
Even though I had previously worked as a Project Engineer and Community Outreach Coordinator, I saw the internship as an opportunity to work for a purpose-driven company while advancing my career in the Circular Economy space. That is why I really resonate with Signify’s focus on energy efficiency and Sustainability.
My graduate studies are focused on exploring the intersection of Climate Change, Engineering, and Environmental Justice. As a result, I perceive the internship as an enabler in my lifelong journey toward establishing a just and sustainable business environment.
During my internship, I participated in the LEAN Advanced Training and became LEAN Advanced certified. As a part of the certification process, I worked on establishing the reporting dashboard that is used in weekly War Room meetings.
I also implemented Weekly Management Boards, Standard Work procedures, and Root Cause analysis to streamline processes within the Supply Chain Account Managers team.
This experience has motivated me to pursue the LEAN Expert path and focus my efforts on assisting Signify’s transition towards Circular business models through continuous improvements.
Personally, I identify myself with Customer First. Working in the Supply Chain space during a global pandemic exposed me to the importance of identifying the Voice of the Customer to enhance customer loyalty and drive revenues in times of uncertainty.
I was recently invited to join the Seton Hall University Customer Experience Advisory Board to provide direction and insights on how to leverage customer-centricity to gain a competitive advantage in the market. I look forward to applying my learnings from the certificate program to advance Signify’s customer experience.
I would describe #SignifyLife as a community that cultivates innovation, inclusivity, and diversity of thought. Having worked in different organizations prior to my internship, I appreciate the emphasis on getting involved with connection points that highlight the importance of allyship and elevating marginalized voices.
