    Diversity, Equity and Inclusion unlock the power of the workforce

    Taking Pride in an Inclusive Workplace

    A nearly 30-year veteran of the company, Angelika Langenfelder has seen Signify embrace, and make significant progress along its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) journey. She takes pride in working for an organization, where employees can show up as their authentic selves and contribute different points of view, from their professional and personal experiences. To honor PRIDE Month in June 2024, we held a panel discussion on allyship and inclusion, a virtual volunteering program to support underserved LGBTQ+ youth, and trivia event for our colleagues.

    How is DE&I expressed at Signify?

     

    DE&I underpins our 5 Frontiers strategy and Signify’s focus on being a Great Place to Work. The company has nurtured a workplace, where differences, from race to gender to sexual orientation, are respected and celebrated.

     

    The company consistently encourages employees to consider how we can continue to shape an inclusive environment together as a team. Our Speaker Series events, covering topics like Allyship, Generational Diversity, Unconscious Bias, and Collective Wellness in the Workplace, have been impactful and helped drive thought-provoking conversations.

    DE&I is a journey, one that needs to be continuously addressed and strengthened. I truly appreciate that Signify has made this a priority.”

    What led you to become involved in Signify’s PRIDE Connection Point Group community?


    I am committed to being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. It has always been important to me, to support and honor the love between my brother and his partner and now husband of 25 years.

    When Signify began forming its Connection Point Groups, I was keen to join (the PRIDE community especially), and support their missions of awareness, education, celebration and advocacy in our organization and externally.

     

    I stepped into the Co-Lead position for PRIDE in late 2023 and have been working with fellow Co-Lead, Lindsey Mulrooney, to regularly promote LGBTQ+ issues, moments in time, and milestones amongst employees. We also have several events planned to honor PRIDE Month in June 2024; this includes a panel discussion on allyship and inclusion and a virtual volunteering program to support underserved LGBTQ+ youth.

    Can you give us an example of how you champion DE&I in your team?

     

    I encourage my team to partake in Signify’s DE&I events and learning opportunities. I actively voice my thoughts and why DE&I is an important element of our company culture, or what we call #SignifyLife. At the same time, I closely listen to my colleagues to learn and better understand what makes them them.
