Creative installation constructs a multisensory light and sound experience at Buddhist temple
Visitors to the Guanyin Altar Buddhist temple of Mount Putuo in Zhejiang Province in China will enjoy a one-of-a-kind, immersive light experience.
A new installation highlights the temple’s dramatic domed ceiling, creating the illusion of skylight and the sense of ‘the world in a bottle’.
ATL Lighting created the design concept using Signify’s Color Kinetics PureStyle IntelliHue Powercore luminaires and Luminous Textile panels. The lighting is blended with dynamic video content and music to create a unique, multisensory experience inside the temple.
The inner space of the Guanyin temple building is shaped like a vase, symbolizing Guanyin (Homophony Guan for Guang光 Light), and represents 'Mount Sumeru', which in Buddhism equals the universe.
