In February 2016, the Signify team visited schools supporting Syrian refugees in Lebanon. They noticed that there was no access to quality lighting for the children.
This often resulted in fatigue and lack of alertness among the students. Signify joined hands with Jusoor, an NGO of Syrian expatriates, to provide access to quality lighting in three schools in the area.
Jusoor supports the country’s development and helps Syrian youth realize their potential through programs in the fields of education, career development, and global community engagement. Through various partnerships, Jusoor supports initiatives in education, career, and global community engagement.
The aim of the project was also to provide solar lanterns to 2000 tents and providing sustainable light in refugee camps. This helps residents of the shelters to perform basic living tasks more effectively during the day and after dark.
The projects added a significant impact to the day to day lives of 6000 people through the project, including the students and teachers of the schools and the families of the students. Children are now more alert during the class, and teachers find it comfortable to teach for longer hours.
