Philips Lighting files ITC patent infringement action against seven companies

    September 22, 2017

Eindhoven, The Netherlands - Philips Lighting (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, today announced that it has filed a patent infringement complaint at the International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging that seven companies who are importing and selling certain LED-based lighting products in the United States are infringing one or more of the five patents in the suit.

Philips Lighting had previously offered a license agreement under the EnabLED program to each of the companies involved. We are pursuing this ITC action in an attempt to get these companies to respect our intellectual property and also out of fairness to the more than 800 companies that have licenses under the EnabLED program.

Since 2008, the Philips Lighting EnabLED program has encouraged innovation and fostered industry growth, which is based on significant R&D investment over the past 125 years that led to many breakthroughs in lighting. Philips Lighting’s LED patents include inventions such as warm dimming, high color rendering white, tunable white, color illumination and efficient light mixing and distribution.
