Eindhoven, the Netherlands – Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, is helping customers to manage the phase-out of fluorescent lighting by expanding its range of high-performance LED alternatives. As well as complying with EU legislation that enters into force this month, Signify’s energy-efficient LED lamps are long-lasting, have short payback times, and fit easily into existing fixtures in virtually every application.
As of 24 February, the EU will ban the placing on the EU market of all non-integrated compact fluorescent lamps (CFL-ni). This is part of the RoHS Directive, which restricts the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, including the mercury in fluorescent lights. Linear fluorescent lamps (T5, T8) will be phased out later this year.
The perfect fit
To prepare for the EU ban, Signify has extended its range of Philips CorePro PL LED lamps, adding PLT LED lamps and new sizes of PLL LED, in addition to the existing PLC and PLS LED lamps. The Philips CorePro PL LED range now covers all popular shapes and sizes. The lamps offer an easy, 1-to-1 replacement and are up to 67% more energy efficient than non-integrated compact fluorescent lamps, with a lifetime of 30,000 hours and a payback period of less than one year2. In addition, the CorePro LED PL lamps provide high-quality light that does not flicker or strobe.
The solutions most suitable for renovated buildings are the Philips Ledinaire or Philips CoreLine downlights. Both offer high-performance lighting and easy installation with a wide portfolio of options, including dimming and emergency lighting. They are up to 75% more energy efficient than conventional downlights, with a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours.
Overcoming the difficulty, cost and poor aesthetic of adapter rings for non-standard cut-outs, the 3D printed Philips Greenspace downlights offer a perfect fit for any cut-out size from 150-280mm without the need for an adapter ring. They are available with housings and trims made of 65% post-industrial recycled material.
