Orange Group’s Kirchberg store implements first LiFi installation in Luxembourg

The Orange Group’s Kirchberg Shopping Center store is the first location in Luxembourg to install LiFi technology from Signify, known as Trulifi. The network was switched on in the presence of Eric Krier, Advisor in the Media and Communications Service of the Ministry of State.

LiFi and 5G are two outstanding technologie

LiFi, which stands for Light Fidelity, uses infrared light to send and receive information. While 5G has excellent performance outdoors, LiFi can take over indoors and deliver the high equivalent performance that Orange customers expect. “LiFi and 5G are two outstanding technologies that complement each other perfectly,” explains Mustapha Rahem, Distribution Director of Orange Luxembourg. “LiFi can transmit data to devices and make it possible to surf the Internet, send large files or collaborate online. Moreover, the two technologies can work in unison, as LiFi can be very easily connected to a Fiber Box or a 5G Box.”

The sector is growing rapidly, and over time our current and future devices will naturally be compatible with this technology.”

Trulifi from Signify lets users establish their own connection via a USB access key. It offers a high-speed connection, with up to 147 Mb/s download and 139 Mb/s upload, and a very low latency of less than 3 milliseconds. “To date, it is mainly the ultra-stability of this wireless connection as well as the absence of in interference with radio technologies that appeal to users,” adds Mustapha Rahem.

Our solution

Providing a wireless broadband connection, Trulifi by Signify uses infrared and visible light to enable high-speed, two-way wireless connectivity. The Trulifi solution can be integrated into luminaires or installed as separate ceiling units. With the LiFi Controller, seamless integration into existing network management dashboards is fast and easy. Customer-specific encryption gives an additional layer of security.

Trulifi by Signify has been successfully installed in the new Orange store in the Kirchberg Shopping Center in Luxembourg.
