Football club Hamburg tackles connectivity challenge by providing journalists and photographers with fast, secure and reliable connectivity
Much to the disappointment of the legions of Die Rothosen faithful, on the last day of the 2019-2020 season, Hamburg lost 5-1 to SV Sandhausen. Had they won the match, they would’ve leapfrogged FC Heidenheim and earned promotion to the Bundesliga for the 2020-2021 season.
As disappointing as the outcome was, there were lots of on-field positives for the club. And off the pitch there was at least one element from 2019-2020 that was far from disappointing: solving connectivity challenges at their home stadium, the 57,000-capacity Volksparkstadion.

The LiFi system is free from interference and encrypted. An extra layer of security is built-in as, unlike radio waves, light waves can’t pass through walls. Spotty stadium internet will never again be responsible for a journalist filing a story late, and sharp action photos will hit their destination quickly.
With an estimated 50+ billion mostly wireless devices connected to the internet, the radio spectrum is becoming more congested than ever. As the new press center for Hamburger SV shows, a solution to alleviate the online congestion and provide great connectivity is literally right in front of our eyes.
